Say her name

While we work together to change the policies and practices that deny Black people from having the right to breathe where we live, play and work. We must also acknowledge that the trendy conversations on Black Lives and fatal injustices we often only speak of Black men. While we know that addressing race is the lever that ultimately benefits us we must also keep in mind how gender also plays out in the experiences of our Black sisters.

Kimberle Crenshaw, Civil Rights Advocate, in her Ted Talk “The urgency of intersectionality” speaks to voices that go unnamed as we demand change.

#sayhername with us, link arms with us to ensure that the women, men and children in our community

… walk

… sleep

… drive

… shop

… play

… make a u-turn

… breathe while Black without fearing loss of life.
